Joan G. (Clemmensen) Bettin, age 92, of Sherburn, MN

SHERBURN - Joan G. (Clemmensen) Bettin, age 92, of Sherburn, MN, and formerly of Trimont and Jackson, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2025, at Temperance Lake Ridge Assisted Living in Sherburn.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Joan at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 7, 2025, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center - Trimont Chapel, (111 Apple Street East, Trimont, MN 56176) with Rev. John Meyer officiating. The service will be recorded and available afterwards on Joan’s obituary page at www.sinnfuneralhome.com.

Visitation will take place from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM prior to Joan’s service on Monday.

Joan will be buried next to her husband, Eldon, at Elm Creek Cemetery in rural Trimont.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joan’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont or UHD Health & Hospice of Blue Earth/Fairmont.

Joan Grace (Clemmensen) Bettinwas born on April 28, 1932, to Andrew and Grace (McLellan) Clemmensen on the family farm in rural Trimont. She graduated from Tri-Mont High School with the class of 1951.

On June 4, 1952, she was united in marriage to Eldon Bettin in Truman, Minnesota. After their marriage, they lived in Trimont for many years before moving to Jackson, and finally to Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont and taught Sunday School in her early years.

 

Joan had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit that could brighten any room. She had a knack for making people laugh, whether through a clever joke, a playful tease, or simply her infectious laughter.

Joan was no stranger to hard work, dedicating her life to juggling multiple jobs at once. Over the years, she worked at the Trimont Nursing Home, Jackson Elementary School, and as a hostess at Best Western Gardens in Jackson. She was also a proud business owner, running Jeans & Fashions for many years with locations in Jackson and Tracy. In addition, Joan worked at United Prairie Bank, the Jackson grocery store, and Strom’s Clothing Store in Jackson.

Joan loved following her son's sporting events throughout their school years. She had many other interests, including riding motorcycles, golfing, and was in several bowling leagues. She loved to travel, and treasured the time that she was able to spend on Big Twin Lake throughout her entire life.

Joan will forever be remembered by three sons, Mike Bettin of Mt. Lake, Minnesota, Brian (Pat) Bettin of Onalaska, Wisconsin, and Ross (Cindy) Bettin of Sherburn, Minnesota; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd (Barb) Clemmensen of Fairmont, Minnesota; sister, Jane Weseman of Sherburn, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Lou Clemmensen of Como Park, Minnesota; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eldon; son, Joseph Bettin; parents, Andrew and Grace Clemmensen; granddaughter, Jennifer Bettin; brother, Larry Clemmensen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Alma (Hilken) Bettin; sister-in-law, Jean Clemmensen; brothers-in-law, David (Joye) Weaver, Bill (Nila) Stevens, Harley (Joan) Bettin, and Paul Weseman; and other relatives and friends.
